Ph.D. in Public Policy & Management
Critical Race Theory | Organizational Behavior | Emotional Labor
I earned my Ph.D. in Public Policy & Management at the Sol Price School of Public Policy at the University of Southern California in 2022 and will be joining the U.S. Office of Evaluation Sciences as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. My work explores intersectional experiences in the workplace with a focus on organizational justice and diversity management. As an interdisciplinary scholar, I weave together insights from organizational behavior, critical race theory, and emotional labor scholarship to look at the ways in which organizations reproduce inequity. My goal is to enhance our understanding of the differential interpersonal burdens experienced by diverse employees navigating social and institutional power asymmetries.
Public policies do not serve communities equally. Advocating effectively for underserved communities is incredibly challenging and emotionally taxing, especially for those experiencing oppression at the intersection of multiple social identities. I am deeply committed to scholarship that highlights the experiences of women of color and other minoritized groups engaged in advocacy work. I look at both obstacles and assets, balancing both critical and appreciative inquiry. I take a special interest in the study of emotions, particularly the emotional labor of women of color across personal and professional boundaries.
